Karen and Ed Stewart. GoFundMe

Dublin couple with three children both diagnosed with terminal cancer

The couple has three children under the age of 10.

THOUSANDS OF EURO have been raised for a Dublin family after it emerged that a young mother and father have incurable cancer.

Karen and Ed Stewart were diagnosed with different forms of cancer within weeks of each other.

Karen had previously been diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 18 but she had gone into remission.

The 36-year-old was recently told that the cancer was back.

Around the same time, her husband Ed was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was told he has months to live.

Friends of the couple have set up a GoFundMe page so that the parents can enjoy their last months together with their children.

So far, €15,000 has been raised.

The page reads: “Karen was diagnosed at 18 with a childhood cancer, unfortunately it has come back for the third time. She has since been told that it is now incurable. Karen’s main carer is her husband Ed. Devastatingly, he is now fighting the disease himself. They have been through so much and more.

“They have three children all under the age of 10. The aim of the fund is help raise some money so Karen and Ed can make as many memories as possible with their three gorgeous babies.”

An update from the account said that both Karen and Ed started chemotherapy at the end of May.

The post added: “They are both hopeful and staying positive.”
